About Us

The Tambo Foundation is a not-for-profit association that builds on thirty years experience to support a range of meaningful philanthropic endeavours in the Cusco region of southern Peru.

Every year since 1979, Tambo Treks, a Cusco based travel company, has been involved in the negotiation, financing and completion of local community projects, which have included the construction, renovation and maintenance of footbridges, schools, medical facilities, drinking water systems, and football pitches, the provision of over $100,000 of microfinance through a comprehensive system of interest free loans, and collaborated with other organizations working in the region. The Tambo Foundation is now continuing and extending the efforts of Tambo Treks to provide meaningful and useful contributions to local communities. Projects are carefully chosen and only designed, financed and executed after consultation with community leaders. All projects involve continued collaboration with the community and draw on local expertise and use local skills with special emphasis placed on the attainment of high quality, durability and sustainability for the communities whilst respecting and maintaining local traditions, values and culture. Each project is meticulously supervised to ensure they meet our high standards.
